Now in modern cars, an engine will only start if it receives a recognised code from a corresponding transponder chip built into the ignition key. And since technology always moves on, today’s keys also allow us to remotely lock and unlock our vehicle, another factor that’s been built into the cost of a new car key.
But a new key shouldn’t be too costly if you choose wisely. Approaching the dealership of a car’s manufacturer is an obvious option but unfortunately it’s the most expensive one too.
